Intellectual property rights and Chinese business practices have been contentious for many years. This has keep many US companies from pursuing patents in China while at the same time sourcing products in China. For the Chinese this has been a boon. They have had access to the latest technologies and no restriction on their use. This has helped increase Chinese entrepreneurial activities and Chinese innovation.
Now, China appears to be at a tipping point. Chinese based companies are now complaining about intellectual property rights within China. If the protection of intellectual property rights continues to advance in China the value of Chinese patents will continue to grow.
